LG unwraps Techno World in Lagos
LG Electronics, has officially unveiled its second digital center in the country, named Techno World at the highbrow area of Victoria Island in Lagos State.
The center, is coming a year after the initial digital center was opened in May at the Ikeja area of the state.
President, LG Electronics for West Africa, Mr. Tae Hun Ryu, said, Techno World offers Nigerians a unique opportunity of learning Information Technology (IT) to be manned by experts from the company at no cost.
Although the course is opened to people of all ages, he noted that the focus is on the youth, who are the leaders of tomorrow.
Some of the course content offers at Techno World consist of Windows XP, Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet, Photoshop and Multimedia.
Restating LG’s commitment to the nation, Mr. Ryu said that the new facility is designed with a class room that accommodates 25 persons at once, and is expected that over 75 people could be trained everyday of the week.
He explained that unlike the digital center at Ikeja, Techno World is LG Electronics _expression of commitment to the IT growth in the country.
Mr. Ryu described the Techno World as a point of IT transfer to the nation, stressing that everything in the place is IT-driven and focusing on telecommunication and technology.
“The training programme is IT skill acquisition and development for young Nigerians,” he asserted.
The fully air conditioned facility already has 25 laptops, LM 40 and 50, which are attached to each desk of prospective students.
LG Electronics also noted that its investment so far has been very deliberate in the last coupe of years; from sports where it helped talent discovery through sponsorship of grass root competition to international games such as the 2003 and 2004 LG four nation cup.
