PRIVATE telecom operator (PTO), Starcomms Limited, has lifted Ikoyi club 1938 by sponsoring its July sessions at Happy Hour.
Explaining the gesture, the Public Relations Manager, Starcomms, Ms Laura Johnson, described it as an avenue for members of the club to have a feel of Starcomms’ world of possibilities, thrilling and fund-packed.
The July Happy Hour, featured an exclusive raffle draw for members of the club in which Mr. Augustine Okonkwo, a top member won the star prize of an LSP 3000 Starcomms phone loaded with a N2,500 credit and free internet access for one month.
Entertainment chairman at Ikoyi Club 1938, Mr. Femi Nuna, commended Starcomms for extending its hand of fellowship to the club.
The club, he said, would continue to partner with Starcomms in the area of sponsorship of some of its upcoming events.
ITrealims recalls that in recent times, Starcomms has consistently sponsored corporate and social events in the country, even as it was named the sole sponsor of the second edition of the Surulere Trade Fair held at the National Stadium, Lagos.
With over 100,000 subscribers, Starcomms was voted the PTO of the year 2003 at the City People awards for excellence and the Best telephone company of the year 2004 – Fixed Wireless at last year’s edition of the Nigerian IT & Telecoms Awards (NITTA-04).
Other awards won by the company include the Best Wireless Telephone Marketer of the year 2005 at the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria awards, Best Fixed Operator of the year 2004 at the Nigeria Telecoms Awards and the PTO of the year 2004 at the City People awards for excellence, 2005 edition.
