Leading developer of silicon chip technologies and Personal Computer (PC) platform solutions, VIA Technologies Inc, has began expansion into the English-speaking West African market, with its attendance in this year’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) For Government exhibition and seminars held in Ghana.
The three-day event which last weekend, February 2, is an annual ICT event that brings together the who-is-who in African technology environment.
This came on the heels of the introduction of the first computing device in the African market that is completely based on the VIA platform, the ICT 4 Government event is meant to serve the entry into the Ghana market as well as showcasing the unique value proposition of the VIA C3 Nehemiah Core processor on the laptops.
The new VIA C3 processor based on the Nehemiah core boosts lower levels of power consumption combined with higher digital media performance and the first ever on-die hardware Random Number Generator (RNG).
This VIA Technologies explained that its low power consumption does not require a noisy and expensive Computer Processing Unit (CPU) cooler, which allows greater freedom in system design, reduce overall system costs and lower total cost of ownership.
And based on the industry standard Socket 370 architecture, VIA C3 is available in either Enhanced Ball Grid Array (EBGA) or Ceramic Pin Grid Array-Socket 370 (CPGA) packages.
ITREALMS Online gathered that the hardware RNG of the VIA PadLock Data Encryption Engine is specifically important for embedded systems, as it does not rely on less random seed data such as keystroke timing or mouse events, thus typically used to seed software-based RNGs known as pseudorandom number generators.
