Motorola’s PEBL hits African market

HANDSET manufacturer, Motorola, has unveiled its latest design known as PEBL into the African’s telecommunications market.

The PEBL product, which hit the market in South Africa weekend for the continent has been described as a shape by nature.

The PEBL’s rounded silhouette, Motorola said is the first interaction of a new round of silhouette inspired by the feel of a stone worm smooth by water with oral handset which marks an evolution in the firm’s mobile design philosophy.

Head, Marketing at Motorola South Africa, Ms Sarit Reoveni, said the design invites the consumer to touch and feel the tactile and mysterious new form.

Also defined as a perfect marriage of design and innovation, PEBL’s unique opening mechanism adds to the mystery and allure of this simple, yet distinctive handset.

She pointed out that a recent, in South Africa commissioned by Motorola showed that 90 per cent of consumers would want their cell phones with them all the time.

“This finding provides a strong motivation behind the power of iconic design and brand-lead purchasing decision.

“Consumers want their cell phone to mirror their image, to be an extension of their self-_expression,” Reoveni said.

She also explained that the PEBL silhouette was created to emotionally and rationally engages with consumers.

“It has character and defined personality that speak a very human and intuitive language through sight, sound and touch” she said.

Mrs. Reoveni outlined its features to include integrated Bluetooth wireless technology, speaker independent voice recognition, up to 5 mega bytes (MG) of memory and a Video Graphics Array (VGA) camera and all seamlessly merge to deliver an effortlessly cool experience.
