LAGOS-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Transfer Technology Center (TTC) Organisation, is warming up for its third in the series of training for the Nigerian youth on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The three-week training tagged National Youth Development Programme in Information Technology (IT), would deal specifically with issue of interconnecting networks with Cisco switches and routers.
President, TTC Organisation, Mr. Akin Aregbesola, informed ITRealms Online that the training slated to hold in Lagos and Port Harcourt respectively, leads to international certification in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
The training to be attended by graduates, post-primary school leavers and students has been structured in a way to benefit those with the potential of seeking future career in the ICT sector.
Assuring that the training is of industry-standard, he said, its objective is to equip the Nigerian youths for possible employment opportunity as well as instill in them the skills and entrepreneurship essentials.
Mr. Aregbesola also said that former beneficiaries of the programme are now big time employees of various companies across the economy.
He promised that at the end of the training, participants would be able to design voice and data networks from scratch.
“They would learn to use various network elements like hubs, switches, bridges, routers, and so on and implement various protocols like Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) cum Internet Protocol (IP), X.25, frame-relay, as well as Local Area Networks (LANs), Internet works and Wide Area Networks (WAN).” he said.
According to him, trainees would be given necessary support to ensure they scale through the certification exams in addition to pursuing appropriate careers in telecom, even as career and interview counseling will be provided by former trainees.
The programme to commence June at the TTC Lagos and Port Harcourt, he said, would entail practical training along with access to manuals, dumps and certificates.In order to extend the horizon of the programme, he said, that TTC Organisation is currently collaborating with the National Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSSS) to take this same quality training to students and staff of Nigerian Universities on their campuses.
