Remmy Nweke

CHIEF executive and the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, would later this month present a book, “Telecom in Nigeria: A role in the call” authored by a renowned telecom engineer, Mr. Gbenga Adebayo.

Chairman of the book launch planning committee, Mr. Robert Anyanwu, made this known to our correspondent, while speaking on the plans to make the book available to the populace.

He also said that the book has been scheduled for launch at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos, on Monday, October 30, this year.

According to him, the Chief Executive of Lagos-based eShekels Limited, Mr. Fola Odufuwa, would be reviewing the book, even as some royal fathers from across the country are expected to grace the occasion.

This is apart from the telecommunications stakeholders to be led by the Executive Vice Chairman, Teledom Group International and President of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem.

Mr. Anyanwu, who also is the Human Resources Manager at the VGC Communications Limited, noted that adequate security has been put in place to ensure peaceful conduct before and during the launch.

Invitation to the occasion, he said, is presently being sent out to stakeholders and enjoined those yet to receive theirs to get in touch with his office to ensure a place at the launch.

Telecom in Nigeria; A role in the call by Mr. Adebayo, tends to provide an overview of the telecommunications industry and its development as well as the challenges that led in part to the transformation.

The author, Mr. Adebayo, joined the VGC Communications as its Technical Manager in year 2000, with instinct with Siemens AG Germany.

He was promoted as the first indigenous General Manager in year 2002 and has since transformed the telco from a community telephone service provider to full national operator status within five years, even as a Unified Licensed Operator (ULO) in the country.
