Share ‘n’ sell airtime, an accord with subscribers – Farroukh

Remmy Nweke

Chief executive of MTN Nigeria Communications, Mr. Ahmed Farroukh, has described the newly introduced ‘Share and Sell airtime’ package as an accord with its teeming subscribers.

Speaking on the product recently in Lagos, he said, that the product was specially developed to add miles to the beautiful experiences offered by the fantastic price cut by MTN, which was pronounced lately.

“The new product is in accord with our recent unprecedented price cuts and will allow many more Nigerians to achieve whatever they want to achieve everywhere they go, in consonance with MTN’s value proposition of moving Nigerians ahead in their endeavours,” he asserted.

Mr. Farroukh also said that it was introduced in determination to spread the benefits of price cuts across board to all Nigerians on the network.

He explained that the product was specifically put together for subscribers who are active on the network, so as to enable them to transfer airtime value from their prepaid accounts to another prepaid account either in exchange for money or as a kind gesture.

“What this means is that airtime on a prepaid account on the MTN network can now be sent as a gift to a loved one and can also be readily converted to money in moments of need,” he said.

Mr. Farroukh highlighted that transfer of airtime on this service could be done by composing a text message with the appropriate command to the service short code 777.

Stressing that a user, who wishes to transfer N5,000 worth of airtime, for instance, would be required to simply key-in the MTN number the subscriber wanted to send the transfer to through a command thus; “Transfer 08033592762 5,000 to 777.”

This, MTN said, would be followed with a confirmation as well as reconfirmation as the sender would be required to write YES in an SMS and send back to 777 within five minutes of receiving response from initial SMS. MTN prides itself as Nigeria’s leading Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) provider and part of the MTN Group.
