FBN boosts Omatek with N1bn

LEADING computer manufacturer in the country, Omatek Computers Limited, has received N1 billion to finance ownership of computers in the country from Frist Bank of Nigeria (FBN) Plc, especially on Omatek brand.

This development is coming as Omatek brand has been adopted as hardware of choice by the financial institution, which entails Omatek brand would be used in its network of branches nationwide.

A press statement from Omatek said that FBN is staking N1 billion in Omatek Computers to finance ownership of Pcs on the brand.

“The First Bank N1 billion stake would enable a credit facility for specific categories of Nigerians
to purchase Omatek computers with payment stretched over several months,” Omatek said.

According to the chief executive, Omatek Computers, Mrs. Florence Seriki, the bank’s credit facility would help to advance the key objectives of the Computer- for All Nigerian Initiative (CANi).

She explained that it would invariably cater for those Nigerians who ordinarily are outside the CANi scope.

“The scheme would cater for employees of public and private establishments including those of small and medium enterprises (SMES), and self employed individuals,” she said.

Applauding this development, Omatek boss described it as demonstration of FBN commitments to improve the national economy over the years as one of most reliable financial institutions.

“With this present commitment, we at Omatek believe that the bank has shown that it has the hope that Nigeria’s chances at leapfrogging its economy is through having citizens that are Information and Communication Technology (ICT) enabled,” Mrs. Seriki said.

Equally the Managing Director of FBN Plc, Mr. Jacobs Ajekigbe, was quoted as saying that the computer-financing scheme is to allow Nigerians have the necessary financial capacity to acquire the basic ICT skills to drive their businesses and become more productive.

While describing the facility as part of the bank’s social responsibility aimed at uplifting the computer literacy quotient of the average Nigerian citizen, Mr. Ajekigbe assured Omatek of the bank’s willingness to support initiatives that would promote economic growth and empowerment of the citizens.

He also enjoined those in the private and public to exploit the opportunity to own their computers and be computer literate.
