It would be recalled that Celtel recently introduced unity tariffs, which tends to reduce all costs to as low as 33kobo per second with three plans.
A press statement made available to Champion Infotel and endorsed by the Head, Public Relations, Events and Sponsorship, Mr. Emeka Oparah and Public Relations Specialist, Mr. Emmanuel Otokhine, said Celtel is one of the major sponsors of the fair.
The telco, they said, used the occasion to educate visitors Celtel stand about how to take advantage of the country’s first and only non-discriminatory low tariff regime.
They listed these plans to include “Simply Special” targeted at the youth and average consumers; “Simply Smooth” with focus on professionals and heavy users and “Simply Smart” for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and ultra heavy users.
According to Celtel, the new flat tariffs eliminate the complexity associated with choosing price plans, by offering customers affordability, simplicity, and greater transparency.
Celtel also announced new international call rates, which lowers prices by 45 per cent and reduces calling costs to as low as 55 kobo per second for popular destinations like United Kingdom (UK), United States (US) and United States Emirate (UAE), amongst others.
The Celtel officials further noted that at the Enugu Trade Fair, the telco established boots within its stand where guests could view live demonstration of airtime transfer known as Me2U and how to migrate to any of the newly introduced tariff plans.
Speaking, Celtel’s Regional General Manager (South-East), Mr. Austen Okoronkwo, said the new tariffs are intended to make life convenient for phone users and eliminate the usual price discrimination across networks by operators, necessitating the need for people to carry more than one phone.
Mr. Okoronkwo also said that flat tariff regime is unique in many respects as it takes into consideration Nigerians in the various economic strata, hence it removes complexity of call pricing and choice of tariff plan.
