The ceremony scheduled to take place in the third quarter, according to Abiodun Ajiboye, publisher of the Nigerian Telecom magazine and promoters of the awards, informed that all hands are now on the deck to ensure that the award is transparent.
He said in a press statement made available to Champion Infotel that Nigerians could nominate by visiting www.telecomnews.info; to nominate, send email or Short Messaging Service (SMS) on their choice of nominees.
He explained that the three most nominated brands, companies or individuals would have the opportunity of being put forward for elections to determine the winners in each category.
“The winners would be determined by Nigerians through voting,” he said.
Ajiboye made known that a consultant has been engaged to collate the nominations and do a presentation and rationalization to the judges at a conference.
He said that the judges would then score and pick the winners, as he noted that the process has been copyrighted and the name of the award trademarked as part of efforts to further position the Nigerian Telecom awards as a pace setter in the sector.
Apart from 17 awards categories, he said, “there would also be recognition categories such as the outstanding contribution to telecom development, foreign telecom investor, indigenous telecom investor, telecom chief executive officer of the year, sponsorship award and telecom marketing experts among others.”
Further he said, this year’s event promises to be better, bigger and more memorable for all participants and guests.
