Thompson expresses optimism on W.Afri.Tel-07

The organizer’s of the West African Telecommunication expo (W.Afri.Tel 2007), holding in Lagos, the Events Management Services (EMS), has expressed optimism on the impact of the event on the nation’s economy.

Chief executive, EMS, Mr. John Thompson, gave this indication in a chat on the prospects of the regional exhibition.

He said that the continued rise in foreign direct investment (FDI) into Nigeria’s telecom is a “renewed confidence in the country’s economy as well as a peaceful environment where people- foreigners and indigenes now transact businesses without let or hindrance.”

Expressing readiness of his team, Mr. Thompson, said that the event acclaimed to be the West Africa’s most professional and biggest information and communications technology show would pull the world of ICT; from manufacturers to professionals, experts to academia, operators to government representatives.

He said that the 7th edition of the event would be a celebration of successful exhibition.

“Thus, the enthusiasm at witnessing another year of the show is understandable. So, from June 5 – 7, 2007 the new Expo Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites will assume a beehive of activity with visitors cutting across all spheres of life gathering to witness the latest and the best in ICT,” he said.

The sole Nigeria partner of EMS, the IT &Telecom Digest, informed that the space for the exhibition has been completely sold out, the demand for additional space cannot be met due to space constraint, an issue that has often led to early booking by those companies that have been regulars at the event.

Prominent companies warming up for the expo including the second national operator, Globacom, leading mobile operator Celtel, as well as leading handsets manufacturer, Sony Ericsson, Dizengoff, Netcom Africa, Starcomms, SkyVision, DCC Satellite, Huawei, Hyperia, Reliance Telecoms, Briscoe, DOPC, Accat and Gilat Satcom and many more have already secured their positions.
