Africans and their governments have been urged to promote an all-inclusive education.
Making this call at the recently ended Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) Africa preparatory meeting (GK III) on Knowledge and Access in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Mr. Moubarak Lo of Senegalese-based Emergence Consulting Group, said this is essential Africa is to enhance its education and creativity among its people and in turn help community develop prospectus in emerging markets.
“Education is important as a matter of priority,” Lo said, reports Brenda Zulu of Highway Africa News Agency (HANA).
Mr. Lo also advised African countries to draw up a master plan to this end, adding that the issue of Universal Access to provide high speed internet connection is also a key factor of success.
He observed that there is need to promote and support formal and traditional knowledge marketization, stressing that Africa suffered the problem of innovation identification due to exploitation of its resources for commercial purpose by selected few alongside their western counterparts.
He explained that there is still hope and possibility of catching up through adaptation and use of existing innovations without big investments in rural development for instance if Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) were to be used.
