Chief Executive, Highway Entertainment Limited, owners of HiTV, Mr. Toyin Subair, disclosed this in Lagos recently.
This, he said, is in commemoration of HiTV launch of satellite transmission, which went live last weekend.
“HiTV is giving out 100,000 free decoders to viewers across Nigeria in its Hi-gift promotion,” he said.
According to him, the promo which kicked off with the satellite launch, would see 100,000 prospective subscribers gaining access, without cost of the decoder and installation, to premium television programming and content across Nigeria provided they can pay N48,000 annual subscription.
He explained that those who get the decoders and dish during the promo would not pay for installation cost of N25,000.
“Instead, they would simply be required to pay the monthly subscription of N4,000 only for a year,” he said.
Mr. Subair also said that subscribers could make arrangements with their banks especially Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Plc for planned payment for access to HiTV.
He added that in order to qualify for this benefits, he advised viewers to visit HiTV website to fill the form provided on the site.
Highway Africa News Agency (HANA) recalls that HiTV was commercially launched on February 1 this year, to break the monopoly in the Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) transmissions in the country.
Mr. Subair stressed that the coming of HiTV into the nation’s channel broadcasting sphere is to provide reduced cost of subscription in the industry.
The satellite platform, he said, would run alongside its Lagos cable business, which also has provision for broadband Internet access.
He emphasised that the cable platform would also offer a capacity for 400 channels when fully utilised based on its satellite transponder capacity, even as HiTV internet would make a debut before the year runs off.
With the launch of the satellite, he noted that Nigerians outside Lagos would now benefit by watching the best of European football, especially the English league, Spanish league and Italian for which the new operator recently acquired the broadcasting rights.
