Systemax boosts VIA C7-D processor

The Personal Computer (PC) platform solutions from VIA Technologies Incorporated recently got a boost from Systemax Manufacturing Incorporated of United States.

This follows the adaptation of the1.5 Gega Hertz (GHz) VIA C7-D desktop processor into newly introduced Systemax PC models.

Champion Infotel recalls that about three Nigerian Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) have already adopted this processor into their offering in recent times, due to its low power VIA pc2500 mainboard.

The processor comes with a maximum power of just 20 watts and the VIA CN700 digital media chipset with the VIA UniChrome Pro II integrated graphics processor.

Additionally, the Systemax PC bundles hardware and software fully address the need to run high performance desktop applications while enabling US businesses, schools and homes to lower their electricity usage and therefore their power bills significantly.

Disclosing this development, Sales Director for the United States (US) and Latin America at VIA Technologies Inc., Mr. Brian Sam, said his firm was excited to join forces with Systemax to further extend its reach in the US market.

“The VIA pc2500 mainboard allows Systemax to stay ahead of the game and enter new territories, combining leading edge solutions with ultra low power consumption in highly affordable desktop PCs,” he said.

Also speaking the Vice President, Systemax Manufacturing Inc, Mr. Tammy Thompson, noted that more and more businesses and consumers in the US are looking for reliable, energy efficient computing solutions, without having to compromise on performance.

“With the new Systemax PC model Venture VE we’ve hit the sweet spot, lowering the power consumption and total cost of ownership while providing good performance and rock-solid, reliable systems,” Mr. Thompson said.

He stressed that the new Systemax PC model is available in two SKUs, one with Microsoft Windows XP Home and the other with Microsoft Windows XP Professional, and is available at leading online retail stores.
