The Senate committee chairman on Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, has been confirmed the lead special guests of honour to the maiden edition of the MicroFinance Bank Technology forum which kicks off tomorrow, Thursday.
Organisers of the forum and foremost financial services application solution provider, Progenics Corp Limited, gave this indication at the weekend in a press statement made available to ITRealms Online.
Managing Director, Progenics, Mr. Tony Udoh said that the event scheduled to hold tomorrow at the Lagos Sheraton Ikeja, would witness Senator Nwaogu gracing the forum.
Nwaogu, he said, confirmed her participation because it is in line with the policies of the Federal Government to encourage and partner with the organized private sector (OPS) that are contributing positively to the growth and development of the nation’s economy.
Senator Nwaogu was quoted as saying, “my committee takes special interest in supporting any group or individual who are in any form adding value to the economic development of the nation, especially in the Microfinance enterprise sector, which is targeted at social empowerment and eradication of poverty amongst our people.”
Mr. Udoh added that the Microfinance Technology forum would benefit immensely from the presence of the distinguished senator who has a solid background in the banking sector as well as having a passion for the development of the microfinance bank sector.
“The overall benefit of the forum is to showcase to the microfinance banks the way and manner technology, especially application solutions, can enhance their operations,” he said.
According to him, the event would also host the unveiling of the latest application solution from the stables of Progenics for the microfinance banks called SymbolsM.
The application, Udoh said, comes into the market with tested modules that benefit from the successes and tested values of Progenics’ highly functional banking application solution CorpBank.
“As a scaled-down version of this robust application, SymbolsM has been designed to be the complete answer to the challenges of the technology requirements of the local microfinance banks,” he said.
Progenics positions itself as a total solutions provider servicing the financial sector of the economy for many years with software solutions to meet the specific needs of the sector and has provided software and solutions to organisations in areas as diverse as government and the oil & gas sectors.
