There’s enough space for Cosmos PCs – Maduka

There is enough space for the newly launched Cosmos personal computers and laptops to make impact in the nation’s market space says the chairman, Coscharis Group of Companies, Dr. Cosmos Maduka.

He was speaking during the launch of the products in Lagos in response to the assumed late entry officially of the Cosmos brands.

According to him, the sky is so vast that all the birds in the air can afford to fly without colliding with one another and “that is our perspective about this market, that we live in a universe of infinite possibilities and there is more than enough good to go round.”

He stressed that in a country of about 140 million people with only estimated 3 million people using PCs, no doubt, presents exciting challenges to an enlightened entrepreneur.

“Our Cosmos brand of PCs being unveiled today is part of the answer to this challenge,” he declared

By introducing a locally-assembled PCs in the Nigerian market in the midst of existing foreign and local brands, he said, was borne out of a strong need to fill a yawning gap in the supply and demand equation of the PC business.

He quoted recent survey after survey conducted by his firm in the past two years which provided adequate justification for the introduction of another Made-In-Nigeria PC in the market.

Just as the introduction was encouraged by the feedback received from Coscharis partners who believe that a PC brand made and supported by Coscharis will be a success.

“Besides these surveys, a recent World Bank report reveals that IT or PC penetration in Nigeria is not more than 2 per cent. That alone reveals a whopping gap begging to be filled,” he said.

Cosmos, he added, would represent intelligent IT solutions to specific human needs in the society, hence in Cosmos, they firmly believe in the theme: “Consider IT Solved” especially with the partnerships of Microsoft and Intel.

“We see Cosmos enabling zero-downtime service in banks, oil firms and large manufacturing firms,” he said.

Chief executive, Coscharis Technologies Limited, Mr. Emecheta Ofondu, said that Cosmos brand of computers stand on the premise of Coscharis values including service integrity, innovation, empathy enthusiasm and professionalism.

He also said that with strategic offices in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, Cosmos Pcs come in various style and shapes including Cosmos Mars and Libra which with Windows XP Home alongside the Intel dual core 2.2 Gega Hertz 800FSB, Cosmos speakers as well as pro-3 years warranty.

He explained that the first year is full warranty while the second and third year respectively is labour only with free 1 Gega byte flash drive.

Additionally, he said that there are Cosmos Monitor’s 15” CRT, TFT and 17” TFT as well as Cosmos 37” Liquid Crystal Display Tv.

On the laptops, he said that there are Cosmos Venus and Ariel which come with Intel Core 2 Duo 1.3 camera, Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) B+G in addition to Windows XP home or professional, carrying case, Bluetooth and 4-cell and 6-cell battery respectively.
