Co-location forum gets 5-man committee

A five-man technical committee has been inaugurated to plan the proceedings of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Co-location forum scheduled for May 19 in Lagos.

A press statement made available to ITRealms Online and signed by the consultant, Telecom Answers Associate, Mr. Titi Omo-Ettu, said that the co-location forum is a high-level business discussion session designed for senior executives of participating firms.

He gave the names of the members of the committee to include a telecommunications engineer, Mr. Bako Wakil, a lawyer, Ms Rachel Ogan, two media practitioners, Messrs Obed Awowede and Remmy Nweke, as well as an Information Technologist Segun Sorunke, and telecommunications consultant, Mr. Titi Omo-Ettu.

ITRealms Online recalls that arrangements have been advanced for the successful hosting of the first-ever high-level business forum on co-location and infrastructure sharing of telecommunications facilities, being put together by Telecom Answers Associates (TAA) and the Nigerian Communications Committee (NCC).

Affirming this, the managing consultant, TAA, Mr. Omo-Ettu, noted that the forum has become imperative in the face of emerging technologies, stressing that the context of emerging technologies demands strategic business opportunities and regulatory issues arising from them.

He explained that the forum would examine the place of co-location and infrastructure sharing within the telecom industry in Nigeria as well as determine options available to the industry to improve on quality of service (QoS), whereas fast-tracking service expansion nationwide.

In addition, he said, the forum has been purposefully fixed to create an opportunity for equipment vendors and service providers to display case their products and services.

As much, he said, TAA has been holding consultations with senior industry players on the need to keep the tempo of developments in the sector sustained, especially as the world journey over the present economic crunch, which experts predict will change the dive hopefully before the end of next year.
