Digital Satellite Television (DSTv) service provider, M-Net Nigeria is dangling $100,00a0 (about N14.7 million) prize money for the winner of its proposed Naija Sings reality show for Nigerian musical acts.
According to the Director for Africa at M-Net, Ms. Biola Adekanbi, Naija Sings is open to a wide range of musical acts and persons over the age of 18, in possession of valid proof of Nigerian citizenship stating that entry is free and there is no payment applicable to enter for the competition.
“Naija Sings is completely original format, so that in itself, says how committed we are to this market, we’re actively going out into the country and creating major customized series that best fits the culture and audience demand here,” she said.
In addition, she said that the best part is that Naija Sings is open to a wide range of musical acts, so whether you’re a sensational soloist, or part of a divine duo or even if you’re part of a group groove (of five persons or less), you too can enter.
She explained that interested potential participants should go to any custom designed audition booth nearest to them and sing one-minute of their selected song without using backing tracks or instruments.
Adekanbi said the audition will be taped and shortlisted successful candidates would be communicated and advised on the details of the next stage performance.
She also said finalists who make it past audition one will then be invited to perform at a regional final where three celebrity judges will evaluate their talent once more, stressing that two contestants from each region would head into the top 14 at which point audience members take over the judging.
Ms. Adekanbi further advised interested participants look out for the first audition in May and entrants should keep watching M-Net or log on to www.mnetafrica.com for audition details and more information on the series.
