Globacom Limited, the second national operator is participating in the ninth edition of the West African International Telecommunication Technology Exhibition, WAFRITEL, which begins today, (June 2), at the Expo Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos. It plans to storm the fair with Glo 1 cable.
Glo, which is also sponsoring the West African ICT Congress 2009, holding alongside the exhibition in addition to being the platinum sponsor of the congress, promised good outing for visitors to its stand.
WAFRITEL/WAFICT had become an important part of the African telecommunications calendar and Globacom’s sponsorship of the congress is a bold affirmation of its belief that Nigerians can always provide the leadership path for the rest of the continent to follow.
The operator said that the congress which has its theme as “Harnessing New Technologies for Telecom/ICT Growth in West Africa” is a platform for it to exhibit and promote some of its niche products and services.
These include the 3G Plus services, Blackberry from Glo, Video Calling services, Voice SMS, Caller Tunes and a variety of value added services that have stood the network out in the telecoms market.
Globacom will also give visitors to its pavilion a foretaste of its Glo1 submarine cable system running from Europe to Africa with a dedicated link to the US. The completion of the undersea cable system will radically alter the provision of telecommunications services not only in Nigeria but also across the West African sub region.
Globacom, which recently operates in Benin Republic and Ghana, has its vision on building the biggest and best telecommunication network in Africa.
WAFRITEL, the biggest gathering of stakeholders in the telecommunications sector in West Africa has become the region’s premier telecommunications event, attracting the industry’s major stakeholders, subscribers, industry leading decision makers, equipment suppliers, to name a few.
Voted the “Best Trade Exhibition in Nigeria”, WAFRITEL’s main focus is on telecommunications technology, cellular service providers, satellite communication and information communication technology.
