United States-based leading wireless communication solution provider, Harris Stratex Networks, has opened a customer service center in Lagos to cater for upsurge in its customers in the country, just as the company plans to inject more funds into the Nigerian market.
This, the company said will facilitate the expansion of offerings in Nigeria, the largest telecom market on the continent.
Chief executive officer (CEO), Harris Stratex, Mr. Harold Braun told newsmen at a media briefing during the recently ended West African ICT Exhibition in Lagos, that the centre would provide addition access to its customer, thus bringing the firm’s offering closer to the people.
According to him, Harris Stratex over the years has had increased customers on the continent, bulk of which came from Nigeria.
He also said that his firm, which specializes on deployment of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), is resolute in consistently increasing the customer-base on the continent, especially in Nigeria.
Braun noted that it was not a misplaced priority to therefore open the service centre last Monday in Lagos.
“Our major market in Africa is Nigeria,” he asserted, stressing that in order for the continent and other developing parts of the world to connect the underserved, they must queue into deployment of mobile networks.
He equally said that Harris Stratex will be investing undisclosed fund into the Nigerian market, pointing out that such areas like the energy, security and surveillance are of importance to the firm.
“There is a need to provide energy efficiency and manage cell sites properly,” he said.
Delivering Internet Protocol (IP) mobile, he said, is Harris’ core business, and with the new centre in place, customers will be able to design their own programmes appropriately.
Also speaking, Country Sales Director for the company in Nigeria, Mr. Bekele Tadesse, reiterated Harris commitment to the nation’s telecommunications and its people.
“We are really committed to this market and we’re getting the full support for the market from our parent company. The market is the No. 1 market in Africa,” he said, noting that Harris is investing additionally in training of staff and partners.
