This year’s edition of Learning Technologies Africa (LTA2009) powered by the European Institute for e-Learning, has gotten dates in September, according to the country lead, Mr. Sam Juwe.
He disclosed that the event has been scheduled to begin from September 21 through 23, 2009 at the Abuja Sheraton Hotels and Towers, is expected to assemble stakeholders in both education and Information Technology (IT).
A press statement made available to ITRealms Online, he said LTA2009 will focus on the theme Technologies Enabled Education and would run on several tracks that cover drivers’ issues on technologically based learning delivery strategies and methods.
Juwe also said that the objective of LTA2009 is to explore how learning technologies, and in particular using Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) in transforming learning, development and globalization, creating an opportunity for the emergence of new paradigms in the field of learning, employment and social networks as well as contributing to the solutions in building sustainable knowledge economy and society.
Other areas of discussion, he said, will be ‘Reforming education and training systems in Africa, promoting digital literacy and knowledge management, instructional design issues, virtual learning environments, promoting IT applications in African schools.’
Equally, he said that other areas of interest include 21st Century Learning, cultural issues in education and e-Portfolio.
The statement further said presenters at the conference will be technological professionals, administrators, tech-savvy educators, human resources experts and innovative education professionals.
LTA is a Pan-African learning technologies conference and exhibition, which is an initiative geared towards building digital competences in the knowledge society.
Annually, the event tend to bring together stakeholders from the industry, education, government and the civil society to take a look at the state of education delivery on the continent, while fashioning out strategies that will bring about enhanced quality, based on modern technologies in education.
