The fifth mobile operator in the country, Etisalat Nigeria, has won dual awards at this year’s Nigeria Information Technology and Telecommunication Awards (NITTA) 2009.
The awards came in the categories of the ‘Fastest Growing GSM Company of the Year’ and the ‘Best Marketing Campaign of the Year’ respectively.
According to the organizers, IT and Telecoms Digest, the NITTA, currently in its eight year, has become the benchmark for measuring of performance and rewarding excellence in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) sector in the country.
Speaking on the prizes, the Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Steve Evans said that the awards reflected the company’s growth drive in the country.
“This indeed is an endorsement that reflects our growth in Nigeria. Our growth, in turn, has been impressive because of our focus on the customer as the centre of our business operations.
With our subscriber base now in excess of 2 million, this awards could not have come at a better time,” he said.
ITRealms Online, gathered that the current awards came simultaneously with two other awards won by Etisalat Nigeria in the Etisalat Group Innovation Awards 2009 held in Babs Al Sham Desert Resort & Spa in Dubai, United Arab Emirate (UAE).
The company came first in Integrated Branding with its 0809ja campaign and in Social Responsibility with its Adopt-A-School programme.
Etisalat, which commenced operations in Nigeria in October 2008, introduced riveting products into the market including its pre-paid packages, Easy starter and Easy cliq, its internet package, Easynet and its post paid package, Elite World, all of which offer a wide array of creative and exciting features designed to satisfy all communications needs of its subscribers.
