eWorld Broadband forum holds today

All is now set for a two-day eWorld Broadband forum, which kicks off today at the Golden Gate, Ikoyi-Lagos.

The organisers led by Mr. Aaron Ukodie said at the weekend that the event would be a gathering of notable speakers in the industry to discuss various issues on how the frontiers of broadband could be pushed further in the country.

Ukodie, who is the chief executive officer, eWorld, also said there is a growing understanding among industry stakeholders that now is the time to ensure that Nigeria keys into the global mood that recognises that broadband platforms were imperative for national economic growth.

New broadband roadmaps, action plans and commitments to broadband development, especially on the last mile front are expected at the forum, he said.

The Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Ernest Ndukwe has been slated to deliver the keynote address, while the President of the Association of Telecommunication Companies Nigeria (ATCON), Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, would speak on Broadband Ways To the 2015 Digital Harvest for the 2020 Digital Banquet.

While his counterpart at the Nigeria Internet Group (NIG), Mr. Lanre Ajayi would speak on the topic: Bridging the Digital Divide through Broadband, just as ace industry analyst and management consultant, Mr. Fola Odufuwa would handle ‘How Nigeria could Keying Nigeria into Global Broadband Trends.’

Chairman, Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) Mr. Gbenga Adebayo would discuss ‘The last mile gap in broadband services.’

Also, the President, Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), Mr. Chris Uwaje would dwell on Broadband Implication for the local environment.

As well, the Chief Operating Officer, Information Technology Association of Nigeria (ITAN) Mr. Oluwole Owolabi would handle Broadband Benefits for Vision 2020, whereas the ‘Broadband Fusion Solution’ would be addressed by Mr. Agha Chukwuka.

Senior Commercial Specialist, at the United States Embassy in Nigeria, Anayo Agu, Vice President of Nigeria Internet Registration Agency (NIRA), Mrs. Mary Uduma and Baba Ahmed of Backbone Connectivity of Nigeria will be some of the discussants at the event.

Even as the Chief Executive Officers of Helios Towers Managing Director, Fazal Hussain and IHS, William Saad will present a roadmap on infrastructure sharing and managed services.
