Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), has commended the Second National Operator (SNO), Globacom Limited for its steadfast support and participation in the annual trade festival, describing the telecom operator as a dependable ally.
This is coming as the Enugu State Government also praised the company for its developmental efforts.
Speaking at the occasion of ‘Globacom Day’ on the 21st Enugu International Trade Fair, President, ECCIMA, Sir Okechukwu Nwadinobi described Globacom as a dependable ally of the Chamber without whose participation the 2010 Fair would not have been complete.
“We are happy to see Globacom here today and over the past few years, it has always registered its presence and participation at the Enugu International Trade Fair. We were sure that this year’s event would not have been complete without the participation of Globacom,” he declared.
Sir Okechukwu lauded Globacom for its initiatives in leading the way in the telecommunications industry with a lot of pioneering services and products and urged the company to replicate these achievements for the black race in new markets across the continent.
He urged Globacom to be relentless in pursuit of coverage of all nooks and crannies of the country in order to enable all Nigerians have access to telecommunications services.
In his remarks, the Enugu State Commissioner for Sports and Youth, Mr. Matthew Idu, noted that the efforts of the company in providing telecommunications services to the people and for creating jobs to complement government efforts at developing the nation.
The state government, he said, would continue to support the company’s operations in Enugu State, while urging the company not to rest on its oars in terms of what it has been able to achieve in the country.
Globacom’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Mohamed Jameel, whose address was read by Glo Business Director, South East, Mr. Ralph Ehimen, said that Enugu occupies a strategic place in Globacom’s business equation, hence the passion of the company in ensuring that every part of the state is covered by the company in order to promote interpersonal and business communication activities.
“In Enugu State just as in other parts of the country, we have continued to roll out services in areas seemingly too remote to be considered by competition,” he said.
In doing this, we are guided by the fact that Nigeria is our country and as such, we owe it the debt of total coverage” he said.
He pointed out, that Glo has a fruitful history of relationship with the good people of Enugu, over the past 5 years, and has taken part in this yearly trade festival.
