Nokia wins brand excellence award

Leading independent arbiter on branding in Nigeria, Superbrands has named Nokia the brand excellence for year 2010 and 2011.

The Project Director, Superbrands Nigeria, Mr. Maxwell Marshall, disclosed this ina press statement made available to ITRealms Online, saying that Nokia has distinguished itself in the mobile phone and Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) cum smartphone categories, after scaling the stringent criteria as captured in a nationwide consumer survey conducted by Nielsen.

He said, that the results of this survey as well as the selection from the premium and business-to-business categories were ratified by the Superbrands Nigeria Council.

“We have enclosed the ‘Certificate of Excellence’ which serves as documentation of your successful assertion of brand excellence. This document stands as testament to your unassailable status as a Superbrand for 2010/2011,” he asserted.

According to him, Superbrands’ mission as a global organization is to propagate the discipline of branding and promote branding excellence world- wide.

“We hold this pursuit close to our hearts because we believe that we have come into a brand economy. An era in which the economic and social prosperity of individuals, organizations and nations will rest hugely on the ability to identify needs and to construct and set forth a value proposition that consistently delivers superior benefits to their target audiences,” Marshall said.

Responding to this certification, the General Manager, Nokia West Africa, Mr. Phillip De la Vega, said this would serve as an encouragement to both the company and its teeming customers in the region.

“Superbrand certification for Nokia Nigeria in two consecutive years will serve to encourage us to work even harder to design relevant products and services to delight our customers. We are more than honored and privileged to receive this Superbrand award,” he said.

Equally, he said, this is an affirmation of Nokia’s goodwill as partner to its customers.

“We are most grateful to our customers, staff, and community at large who have extended a vote of confidence in our brand,” he said.
