Obviously responding to the clamour by its customers, especially in Nigeria, leading manufacturer of mobile devices, Nokia, has introduced dual Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) handsets, Nokia C1, into the nation’s market.
Making this disclosure, last weekend, the General Manager, Nokia West Africa, Mr. Philip De-La-Vega, said the move validates the fact that a dual-SIM phone has become inevitable in developing telecommunications nation like Nigeria.
Nokia C1, he said, is the device most affordable among competition across brands and is the first Nokia’s mobile phone to feature a 2-in-1 SIM solution.
Also, he said that Nokia as a listening brand introduced this to showcase its determination to continually seek ways to surpass the expectations of its customers.
De-La-Vega said that by simply holding down a key, users of Nokia C1 would be able to switch between SIM cards.
He explained that it would enable users to take advantage of reduced call rates, flexibility when traveling from one country to another, or helps with sharing a phone within a family and still use their own SIM.
According to him, Nokia C1 users would also benefit from a standby battery time of up to six weeks, the longest ever for a Nokia mobile phone, especially useful in those areas where access to electricity is sometimes limited.
“On the Nokia C3 phone, the standard flashlight is often someone’s only means of bright light - is paired with a vivid color screen and Frequency Modulation (FM) radio with standard headphone jack, meaning that the Nokia C1 is as much about entertainment as it is about convenience,” he said.
He maintained that Nokia is the world’s number one manufacturer of mobile devices by market share and going beyond its leadership status as a manufacturer of devices, Nokia is fast becoming a leading solutions provider in the converging Internet and communications industries providing internet services that enable users to experience media, messaging, maps and games.
