LG Electronics Nigeria has announced a partnership with Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech), Lagos, to give students of the institution opportunity to go on industrial training for a period of one year with the company.
This initiative would allow three best students of the institution based on academic grade points (GP) to go on industrial training with the company.
During this period, the trainees will be taught the rudiments of technology that will enhance their knowledge through practical exposure and capacity building.
Interestingly, where the trainees are found to have distinguished themselves based on competence and potentials, they would be absolved into the main stream of the company’s workforce as service engineers.
The partnership was sealed on behalf of the two entities with the signing of the agreement by the Dean of Engineering department, Yaba College of Technology, Mr. Joseph Jinanwa Chikwe and the General Manager, Customer Service, LG Electronics, Mr. Weolwoo Choi.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Choi said LG Electronics is passionate about the Nigerian youths.
“Their aspirations and dreams are of basic concern to us in achieving a better future for them. It is in line with this, that we have designed this programme to reach and meet their needs of helping to make Nigeria better,” he said.
He said that in line with the core values of giving back to the society, LG Electronics is determined to make Nigerians experience the good life at every of its platforms.
Mr. Choi said, they are convinced that as they sustain this programme on yearly basis, they would be able to make meaningful impact in the lives of these students and countrywide.
Some of the students who were also present expressed joy and gratitude to LG Electronics for giving them the opportunity to gain practical knowledge which would enhance their knowhow.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Odunuga Paul, said the training would go a long way in impacting positively on student’s technical knowledge.
Also, Paul, who is now a trainee technician for Home Appliance products said that the internship programme would help in ensuring best students from Yaba Technology to secure employment upon successful completion of the internship programme, which would go a long way in motivating them to study hard as students.
