Reputed Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the country, Direct-On PC Limited is riding on Aviat’s StarMAX Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) broadband system to offer Fourth Generation (4G) services in Nigeria.
This includes base stations, Wireless Services Gateway (WSG) and end-user devices to provide broadband services to underserved areas of Nigeria.
Confirming this, vice president sales and service, Africa Region at Aviat Networks, Mr. Trevor Burchell, noted “As Nigeria is one of the fastest growing telecom markets in the world, together our two companies have designed a solution that not only fulfills all current end customer expectations but also scales to meet capacity needs for future growth and applications.”
He said in a press statement made available to ITRealms Online, noted that Aviat Networks’ high-performance 4G WiMAX system allows service providers to offer numerous configuration options and services including pre-paid or post-paid accounts and secure Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) services for enterprise and small business customers all from the same wireless network.
“This allows each network component to be fully utilized to maximize revenue while maintaining the flexibility to scale up capacity and coverage as necessary,” he said.
According to him, the wireless infrastructure equipment and services contract includes approximately 200 base station locations.
Stressing that initially, this equipment would be deployed throughout Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria and second largest in Africa, just as subsequent installations will occur in Abuja, the national capital, and Port Harcourt, the primary Nigerian port and also one of Nigeria’s largest cities.
For the vice chairman, Direct On PC, Mr. Mahesh Sadhwani, they have developed a strong reputation delivering the best broadband experience for personal and business customers in the country.
He also said that with Aviat Networks’ comprehensive worldwide experience in deploying wireless solutions and substantial local presence in Nigeria.
