The Second National telecommunications Operator, Globacom and Puzzles Technology Limited have delivered the first phase of a virtual private network to the Nigeria Immigration Service, (NISCOM) Telephone project.
ITRealms Online learnt that the project would make available about 100,000 lines for staff of the Immigration Service, according to the Head, Corporate Sales, Globacom, Mr. Kamal Shonibare at the weekend.
The Comptroller General of Immigration Mrs Rose Chinyere, who was represented by Dr. Babajide Brown, Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration in- charge of Investigations, Inspectorate and Enforcement (IIE), was quoted as described the delivery of the first phase of NISCOM as epoch-making.
She also said that NISCOM is a package that has the capacity to enhance operational efficiency in all facets of Immigration service-delivery.
Expressing appreciation to both Globacom and Puzzles Technology Limited, the Immigration boss said they did well by facilitating the project and urged both organisations to deliver all the benefits from the service in order to help the NIS to improve on its overall service delivery.
For Mr. Shonibare also revealed that the package, which is being executed through Puzzles Technology Limited, will make available about 100,000 lines for all the workers of NIS all over the country in the first instance and also members of their families.
He also said that the package would enhance communication among staff, friends and family members at all times without having to worry about their airtime getting exhausted.
The package entails a free closed user group (CUG) network, which has been designed to foster efficiency and security of communication among the staff of the NIS. Users on the closed network can call others within the group for free while rates for calls to others outside the group either within Glo network and other networks have low rates.
Chief Executive Officer of Puzzles Group, Mr. Bayo Adeyemo said “the package is loaded with tremendous benefits for the Immigration Service, the officers and men as well as their families, friends and relations.”
He stated that the benefits of the closed user group include free unlimited calls and sms within NISCOM, secured coverage, good traffic capacity, clarity, cost efficiency, desktop compatibility, among others. He said his company packaged the project in conjunction with Globacom as a way of contributing to the effective service delivery of staff of the Service to the country.
