A new set of executive board were recently elected by majority members of the Nigeria Internet Group (NIG) at the end of its annual general meeting in Lagos.
The new exco is led by the chief executive officer of Disc Communications, Mr. Adebayo Banjo as president, Mr. Destiny Amana was also elected the vice president.
Other members of the new exco include Mr. Dapo Adejokun who emerged the treasurer, while Mr. Dennis Edet joined them as the publicity secretary.
A press statement made available to ITRealms Online by the administrative secretary, NIG, Mr. Fidelis Orji confirmed this latest changes.
He went on to note that the new vice president, Mr. Amana is the chief executive of IceCool Contracts and has been very active at the committee level before his election.
ITRealms Online recalls that NIG, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, promoting the Internet in Nigeria, was founded in 1995.
And to achieve its mandate, Orji said, the group engages in a number of activities which include; policy advocacy, awareness creation and education.
Speaking after the election, Mr. Banjo assured members his administration would continue what he described as good works of his predecessor, Mr. Lanre Ajayi based on the tenets of the group, which include awareness creation and education carried out through conferences, seminars, exhibitions, workshops
He noted that the activities of the group have led to a tremendous increase in awareness about the Internet within Nigeria which further led to an increased level of internet connectivity in the country.
