3Line deploys 500 POS in Lagos

Leading electronic payment platform for underserved in the country, 3Line Card Management Limited, has deployed over 500 Point of Sale (POS) machines across the city of Lagos to give boost to electronic business transactions.

Disclosing this after conducting newsmen around the company’s premises in readiness for an invigorated forthcoming campaign, the General Manager, 3Line Card Management Limited, Ms Funke Ade-Ojo said that the deployment was based on the company’s needs assessment outcome of POS in Lagos.

According to her, the research also covers other parts of the country, but for Lagos, the deployment has taken off.

She said that the premier low level e-payment platform in the country is acting in accordance with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The deployment, she said, excites CBN which is supporting 3Line in the transaction product diffusion through relevant approvals granted the company.

She also said that 3Line is considering empowering the MicroFinance Banks to ensure that they enjoy this interesting product by deploying POS that would aid collection of daily contributions from participating small businesses in their fold.

Ade-Ojo who was accompanied at the tour by the Head of operations, Mr. Chinedu Eluchie, said that 3Line e-payment card, Freedom, is available in the market and could be reloaded through bank, even as it has the ability to transfer fund from one account holder to another.

Equally speaking, Mr. Eluchie said that 3Line is the only electronic payment card in the country today with Dynamic Data Authentication (DDA) in the country, the most of the cards in the market which have the Static Data Authentication (SDA).

“We have actually invested in DDA standard,” he declared.

ITRealms Online recalls that mid last year, the duo of international card operators, Visa and MasterCard issued mandates for all to migrate to DDA platform by January 1, 2011 due to its better security protection.

The tour cut across training centre, settlement centre, customer service, crèche and data centre.
He also disclosed that 3Line has two Matrica Z-30 machines which produce 40,000 cards in 12 hours, just as banks and corporate companies desiring smart card implementation could take advantage of these machines.

Noteworthy is that 3Line Card Management Ltd was set up three years ago to bridge the gap in service delivery.
