LEADING Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) operator, Starcomms Plc, has continued to receive accolades from winners of its last Bonuzee promotion, reports CHARLES OKOH.
One of the winners of brand new Kia Rio cars, Dr. Mrs. Titilola Tokun described the prize as a Christmas gift for her family.
She said the car is a reward for her decision to create multiple sources of income for her family adding that she was glad she did not abandon the dream.
A press statement to ITRealms Online quoted Dr. Tokun as saying that when she started the Smart-Centre business some years ago, she was not making profit and had to close down the business when she left the country for other life endeavours, adding that when she returned to the country she had to open up the business in the hope that things would get better.
Excited that Starcomms has not only enabled her to empower others by providing jobs, she observed that the gift of the car is a boost to her profile noting that she is happy that doing business with Starcomms is rewarding.
Recalling how she felt when the news that she had won a car got to her, Tokun said; “In fact I thought it was a joke when I was called that I just won a Kia Rio car. I just put off the phone, but the lady that called me later called again saying that it was true that I should come to Lagos. It even made me to doubt her more”.
She said her pessimism was put to rest when she got to the venue where the car keys were presented to her by the chief commercial officer of Starcomms, Mr. Tushar Maheshwari and witnessed by other winners who took away other prizes including the second car winner from Onitsha, Mr. Sylvester Chukwuebuka Orji.
An automobile engineer, Lot Yahaya who lives at Festac Town, Lagos and got a cash gift of N750,000, said unlike Tokun who used her Starcomms telemax phone at her Smart-Center, he converted his into private use due to the low tariff that comes with it.
According to him, “I am a businessman. I make a lot of calls and I got to discover that I was paying so much so I decided to look for an affordable business phone that has a low tariff. It was then a friend recommended Starcomms to me. He said that Starcomms has a low tariff business phone and that the network is reliable.”
He said he has invested the money into a new line of business adding that he was appreciative of the Starcomms gesture.
He said that it also gave him the opportunity to give to the less privileged as part of the money was given to an orphanage while the rest was used to entertain friends and family members during the yuletide.
Yahaya said the Bonuzee promo brought so much joy to his home during the last yuletide, adding that the whole incident is an episode in his life that he will not forget in a hurry.
