Director, Business Development at eTranzact International Plc, Mr. Sullivian Akala, has said that they are collaborating with the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) to extend electronic payment (e-payment) services largely to the under-banked.
He also said that the collaboration to increase access to epayment services in Nigeria.
“We are leveraging on the partnership with NIPOST, to reach more customers especially in the rural areas. NIPOST has all necessary facilities to drive e-payment services to this segment and generate revenue for NIPOST,” Mr. Akala said.
He explained that at NIPOST outlets, customers could with the collaboration make payment for airline tickets, buy airtime TopUp, pay bills – DSTV, HITV and other pre-paid TV, pay school fees, cash out funds, load their pre-paid cards among others.
Head of Information Technology, NIPOST, Mr. Thomas Gaga said, they expect this collaboration to generate revenue for NIPOST and add to the service profile for this establishment.
“One of the obligations of NIPOST is to provide financial services to Nigerians. We have offices all around the country and have presences in the rural areas to make this happen,” Gaga said.
He also noted that eTranzact as an exceptional electronic financial solution company, that NIPOST is pleased to collaborate with them.
“The services we shall offer through the eTranzact platform are to complement the banks in the provision of easy access to financial services,” he said, underscoring that this would commence in phases and extend to other parts of the country within the next four months.
“This is a major milestone in the country as Nigerians can easily perform any form of payment services without going to the bank and it’s very secured and cost-effective,” Akala said.
