Glo-1 takes 3G internet to Enugu

Glo has launched its high quality prepaid 3G plus High Speed Internet (HIS) services to Enugu and Nsukka municipalities both in Enugu State.

Head, 3G Sales, Globacom, Mr. Wunmi Jewesimi disclosed that with the development, prepaid subscribers on the network in the Coal City, the University town of Nsukka and their environs could now enjoy the benefits of high speed internet service on their laptops, handsets and tablets.

Jewesimi said at the unveiling ceremony at Bayview Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu, that the Glo High Speed Internet modem and packages give subscribers the freedom to use the service anytime, anyhow and anywhere.

“Our 3G Plus HSI services offer users faster connectivity and faster downloads at affordable rates. We are delighted that Glo subscribers in the Enugu area now have access to high quality internet service currently being enjoyed by our subscribers in several Nigerian cities including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Benin, Ibadan, Oshogbo, Kaduna, Zaria and Kano,” Jewesimi said.

He added that other advantages of the Glo 3G Plus HSI service includes extensive coverage, instant activation, low tariff, flexible bundle offerings and easy subscription and re-subscription via recharge cards.

The easy-to-use Glo 3G Plus modem costs N5,000 – the most competitive rate in the market. It is compatible with various operating systems and networks including Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Apple Mac (OS X 10.4 & 10.5), GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA and HSDPA.

The Glo modem, he said, comes with a customized and easy to follow User Guide which enables the user to set preferences and begin browsing instantly. Stressing Glo has three packages designed for the convenience of subscribers.

These he listed to include the All Day Packs, Bundled Hour Packs and Flexi packs.

On the All Day pack, he said, it has the Always MAX, Always Min and Always Day package types, noting that for the Always MAX package, the user is required to pay N7,500 monthly fee and this gives him access to the internet all day for 30 days.

He explained that for the Always Min package, the user pays N5,000 a month for all-day access to the internet for 30 days.

The data volume on the package has been increase to 3 gigabytes from 1.5 gigabytes. The monthly fee for Always Day pack is N500 for all day access for 24 hours.

The Bundled Hour Packs, he said, come in two categories: G300 which attracts N15,000 monthly fee for all day access for 300 hours and G100 which has a monthly fee of N6,000 with 100 hours, all day access.

Similarly, the Flexi pack is in two categories: the G Work package attracts N6,000 monthly charge with 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. access for 30 days and the G Leisure which has a monthly fee of N5,000 for 30 days’ access for 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. every day and all day during weekends.

Jewesimi also informed the audience of the launch of new HSI plans for usage on handsets, smart phones and tablets. The plans offer pocket-friendly rates with generous data volumes.

“Subscribers can now browse the internet, stream audio and video, download applications and chat with family and friends on their data enabled devices at super fast speeds and affordable rates,” he added. The rates for the plans are N100 for Instant Surf, N400 for One Week, N1,000 for Always Micro and N3,000 for Always Macro.
