Global enabler of telecommunications services, Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has trained selected staff of Etisalat Academy to opt the management of network within the Africa and Middle East region.
Jorg Erlemeier, Head of Middle East, Nokia Siemens Networks, said, noted that programme and learning services offer employees of Etisalat, one of the largest telecoms operators in the region to be update to date with technologies.
The aim, he said, is for Nokia Siemens Networks to provide skills development and knowledge transfer that would help contribute to the long-term success of Etisalat across the 18 countries where it operates.
“This joint competence-development campaign with Etisalat is unique in the Middle East. It offers a service over and above the traditional post-warranty agreements that are prevalent in the sector,” he said.
NSN, he said, is confident that transferring knowledge and skills to employees through a broad range of product, technical and management programs will not only contribute to their career development: It will benefit the telecom industry as a whole. Education and a strong knowledge base that fits business needs are key to the continued success and growth of telecommunications in the region.
He explained that the courses on offer would include, but are not limited to, conventional and virtual classroom training, competence planning and on-the-job training.
Nokia Siemens Networks, Jorg added would make available its full range of training services, from full semester mini-MBA programmes, supported by its partnership with the London Business School, to detailed technical workshops explaining the latest radio and broadband technologies.
David Brennan, General Manager, Etisalat Academy, said, they are proud of its newly formed association with Nokia Siemens Networks.
“Not only is Nokia Siemens Networks one of the world’s biggest telecommunications suppliers, it has an unrelenting desire to educate and train people, inside and outside the company,” he said.
According to him, this dedication and capacity is a good fit for the Etisalat Academy, which is the region’s largest single-source provider of training.
“We share the same passion and desire to make a difference. Through this partnership, the Etisalat Academy and Nokia Siemens Networks will provide value-adding training solutions across the Etisalat Group and to the open market in the UAE. The end result is to contribute to higher performing people and companies,” he said.
The collaboration between Nokia Siemens Networks and Etisalat Academy is governed by a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two companies for a period of two years, effective 31st May 2011.
