N1bn reward: Subscribers storm MTN centres

Barely two weeks after the launch of the its N1 billion reward package, the subscribers of the leading mobile operator in the country, MTN Nigeria, have stormed its service centers nationwide to register their Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards.

Confirming the jump in registration of SIM cards, according to the General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Mr. Kola Oyeyemi, said it’s in line with the directive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and to ensure MTN customers continue to enjoy their network offering beyond September 28 deadline for registration of SIMs and still get rewarded.

He noted that this surge in registration was no doubt in apparent response to MTN’s clarion call to subscribers to register, load any amount, join any of its competitive priced tariff plans and have a chance to win part of the 1billion naira largesse.

He also said that thousands of hopefuls are thronging the telecom giant’s registration centres daily to register their SIMs as experienced at the Opebi MTN Service Centre.

He said that there has been a two-fold increase on the number of daily registrations.

“That is the overriding objective of the big reward programme; getting subscribers to register so that we can have a credible data base for our country. And you know, when we have such a data base, government can better plan the economy and the people would be the better for it.…#157;

He explained that MTN is also using this as an opportunity to say a big “thank you…#157” to its over 40m customers nationwide.

ITRealms Online recalls that MTN Big Reward was recently unleashed in a colourful ceremony by Nigeria’s biggest telecom provider in what has been described severally by industry watchers as the biggest and most daring reward programme ever attempted by any commercial entity in any industry anywhere in Africa.

The massive reward package would allow 10 people to win N10m at each draw every 10 days for 9 times.

While, another 900 people would win N100,000 each and there would be N10m worth of instant cash prizes which would be won during the prize presentation ceremonies.
