Leo-Stan Ekeh, Chairman, Zinox Group |
The Executive Council of the National Association of
Computer Science Students (NACOSS) has commended the leadership of Zinox Group
for its performance in 2011, even as the student body partners Zinox.
Confirming this, the Communication Advisor to Zinox Group,
Mr. Echika Ezuka in a press statement made available to ITRealms Online, said
this was the outcome of the recent courtesy visit to the headquarters of Zinox
Technologies Limited.
He quoted the
National President, NACOSS, Adanigbo Oluwasanmi Segun as saying they were in
Zinox to build understanding and cooperation in the interest of the Information
Communications Technology sector.
Adanigbo said that the purpose of the visit was to put on
record that NACOSS appreciate the achievements of Zinox Technologies in 2011,
especially by saving the face of Nigeria during the last year’s general
election and registration of voters nationwide.
Also, he said that the successful supply of 80,000 Direct
Data Capturing (DDC) machines early in 2011 to serve as technology backbone for
the voters’ registration exercise was a triumph for all Information Technology
(IT) professionals in the country.
That project, according to NACOSS president, drew national
and global attention to the growing capacities of the IT professional in
Nigeria.
NACOSS, he said, was proud that a Nigerian company performed
better than the other foreign companies who were also contracted to supply some
of the machines.
The NACOSS President said that on the strength of that
performance, he was not surprised that Leo Stan Ekeh, emerged the IT
personality of the year 2011 at the National Information Technology Merit Award
(NITMA) organized by NCS last year.
Adanigbo informed the Zinox team that NACOSS was involved in
the training of its members, adding that that NACOSS organizes hands on
workshops to help students to become more familiar with the equipments of their
trade.
Receiving the NACOSS team-led by Adanigbo, chairman of Zinox
Group, Dr. Leo-Stan Ekeh, congratulated the new executive for their successful
election and transition, even as expressed satisfaction that NACOSS has
overcome its administrative challenges and now united under one executive body.
The Zinox Chairman also applauded the students’ body for the
active role that NACOSS has continued to play in the affairs of the Nigeria
Computer Society (NCS) and in the industry.
