According to him, this year participants would focus on “Information
and Communications Technology (ICT) Infrastructure Challenges in Nigeria.”
He noted that the theme of the conference for this year was
chosen so that experts will use their wealth of knowledge to proffer solution
to the challenges faced in the industry.
He said for the digital economy of Nigeria to be vibrant,
efforts must be concentrated on solving the problem of ICT infrastructure
saying the event hopes to offer immense potential to development of the digital
economy.
Aganbi said many African countries have in the last decade
witnessed a rapid development of ICT infrastructure, though they are in different
stages of development, adding it would be good to access the path Nigeria has
taken in this regard.
This, he pointed out, has been spurred in most cases by
sector reforms and in a limited number of cases, through political will to
improve the infrastructure.
He said that perhaps the most significant is the rapid
expansion of mobile networks, which have provided a number of advantages
including increase in teledensities and extension of service to rural areas.
“We believe it is imperative to continue to encourage the
development of robust, reliable and affordable ICT infrastructure that supports
and enables the provision of a multiplicity of applications and services to
meet the needs of the country and its people,” he said.
Now in its seventh edition, he said, the 2012 Titans of Tech
conference will provide a platform for government to present its plans and policies
as well as the private sector to provide insights into challenges,
opportunities, available solutions and options in deploying infrastructure to
support the emerging digital economy.
The organizers equally stated that the conference offers a
great opportunity for networking and forging strategic partnerships with key
stakeholders in the sector.
“We hereby call on infrastructure vendors and equipment
suppliers, banks, insurance and other financial institutions, telecommunications
services providers, CBN, government agencies and alternative solutions in
Nigeria to embrace the Titans of Tech 2012 conference and expo,” he urged.
