NITDA soon to publish standards on .gov.ng


The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Prof. Cleopas Officer Angaye has revealed his organisation’s plan to publish soon the standards on .gov.ng.

He made this disclosure at a one-day workshop for Information Technology (IT) personnel at the Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Abuja, Wednesday.
NiTDA, he said, is working on requisite standards and guidelines for government websites.

“The standards would soon be published and enforced,” he revealed.

He also advised all government officials to commence compliance on the use of .gov.ng platform for their mailing addresses.

“It’s worthy of note that this is a major agenda of our Honourable Minister of Communications Technology,” he said, urging MDAs to contribute their quota towards the success of this laudable initiative.

He expected the workshop to come out with strategies that could further enhance and consolidate on the gains of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) development in the country.

Angaye further enjoined MDAs to collaborate with the private sector while embarking on the development of public service focused software for activities such as their accounting system, personnel management, budgetary matters, identity cum content management, data integration, web-based services, documents cum data interchange and information policy issues amongst others.

He appealed to MDAs to ensure they carry executive leadership of their various organisations along in the development of interoperability framework by patronizing indigenous ICT products services.
