Paris-based Director of Digital Francophonie at Organisation Internationale
de la Francophonie (OIF), Mr. Pierre Ouedraogo has been honoured with the Jonathan
B. Postel Service Award for 2012.
The award is the Internet Society (ISOC) way of recognizing extensive
works by the Internet professionals, while Mr. Ouedraogo’s was for his role in
ensuring that Africans voices are heard on Internet issues at the global
levels.
The prize presented as part of the Vancouver, Canada meeting of ISOC, scaled through the international award committee, comprised of former Jonathan B. Postel award winners, who were undivided over Mr. Ouedraogo’s role in the growth of the Internet in Africa and demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to training young engineers and participating in regional Internet organizations.
