As the April date for the commemoration of Women in ICT Day 2013, a call has been made for 5,000 electronic mails (emails) to newly appointed United States Secretary of state, Mr John Jerry.
Organisers of this email campaign, the Pathfinder International said it's part of the efforts to request John Kerry to use his new office to champion the rights of women and girls.
Director of Advocacy, Pathfinder International, Mr. Jonathan Rucks in a press statement made available to said that this week their target is to get about 1,000 supporters to answer their calls to action.
While congratulating US Secretary of State John Kerry on his new position, the group asked him to lead the way on the rights of women and girls, noting though there is still a long way to go.
He urged people to help them meet the campaign goal of sending 5,000 emails to Secretary Kerry.
The campaign will also see to prioritizing sexual and reproductive health as one of the best ways of empowering women worldwide.
"You can help us break down barriers to reproductive health by calling on Secretary Kerry to be a strong global advocate for gender equality," Rucks said.
