The All Progressive Grand Alliance
(APGA) Nigeria has called on the security agencies in the country to arrest the
trio of Governor Theodore A. Orji, Mr. Olisa Metuh and retired Colonel Akobundu
for allegedly thwarting the governorship election in Abia State last weekend,
reports ITRealms.
APGA through his spokesman, Okwukwe
Ibiam told ITRealms the Nigerian
security apparatus should matter of urgency arrest the trio of out-going
Governor T.A Orji, Olisa Metuh, Rtd., Colonel Akobundu and other cohorts, who
openly threatened the guardians of our electoral system last Sunday at the INEC
office in Umuahia, the state capital.
Ibiam in a press statement made
available to ITRealms said the
alleged culprits must be brought to book for openly threatening, maneuvering
and causing an electoral official to reverse an existing ruling.
“We do not have to recount the
mental torture the official was put through in order to achieve the dastardly
end. That is no democracy. That was pure thuggery! No electoral officer may
face an open or implied threat of bodily harm to his person or associates in
the discharge of their duties. We cannot condone outright disrespect for legal
guardians of the realm in our electoral system, or it will be open season on
all those who can,” APGA decried.
He insisted that the good people of
Abia State have spoken, and results may not be boldly manipulated, asserting “The
APGA won fair and square!”
Ibiam who also is the national
publicity secretary of APGA cited an instance with the results from Obioma
Ngwa, Isiala Ngwa, Ugwunabo and localities bordering Aba, which were pure
travesty.
“They do not reflect the sentiments
of similar votes cast in the Aba vicinity or other parts of Abia State where
the electorate made clear, they were done with PDP Governance in Abia State.
The PDP failed woefully and were rejected by the electorate, all over Abia
State,” he said.
Such desperation, APGA said, from a
do-nothing State Government is better described as shame, maintaining that APGA
stands by the cancellations, and would call for a total re-run
monitored by appropriate Nigerian security agencies, where the people will cast their votes safely, and such votes collated at the end of the day registered properly, in the presence of the Nigerian security forces.
