The 2015 edition of Beacon of ICT
Awards held on Saturday night in Lagos
with the emergence of Globacom as the best telecommunications company in Nigeria,
reports ITRealms
Globacom Nigeria won in three
categories of the awards. The categories are; award for Best Telecoms Company
of the Year, Undersea Cable Company of the Year and Most Innovative Mobile
Player of the Year.
The organizers of the award stated
in a speech at the event that the emergence of Globacom as the best telecoms
company was the result of a three-month online poll conducted between December 2014
and March 30, 2015, involving the participation of over 900,000 respondents.
The organizers said that the revolutionary role of Globacom in the industry
earned them the largest vote to emerge as the winner.

was done by the Chairman, Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria Engr.
Gbenga Adebayo, who emphasized that the company had since pioneering per second
billing remained a Beacon and pride of Nigeria in the telecoms industry.
While on the second and third award,
the Most Innovative Mobile Player and the Undersea Cable Company of the Year the
orgaizers stated that Globacom was chosen for pioneering most innovations in
the industry and also as a major provider of bandwidth in West Africa
sub-region influenced the decision of majority of the respondents. Other
winners at the event were GTBank, Vodacom Business, DHL Unified Payments, and

Those in attendance at the event were
prominent personalities of the ICT industry in Nigeria, the likes of Leo Stan Eke
the CEO of Zinox Technologies, as the chairman of the occasion, Gbenga Adebayo Chairman
of Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), Emmanuel Ekuwem
Chairman of Teledom International, and Chris Uwaje former President of
Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON).
