The Internet Corporation for
Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has commenced the search for a new president
and chief executive officer by setting up of a committee to that effect,
reports ITRealms.
ICANN also names an Internet
Governance (IG) guru, George Sadowsky as the chairman of the search committee.
ITRealms
recalls that the current president cum CEO of ICANN, Mr. Fadi Chehadé, has
served the ICANN board and Internet community at large his intension to move on
from ICANN by March 2016.
Affirming this to ITRealms, Sadowsky noted that “ICANN has
formed a search committee for the new CEO, of which I am the chair.”
He further revealed that the
committee has opened an electronic mail (email) address for interested parties
to make input.
“We've opened an e-mail address for
interested parties, ceo-search-cmte-only@icann.org,
in order to collect comments regarding the search, the qualifications of
candidates, the job description, and the special characteristics of best
applicants,” he said.
Sadowsky pointed out that at this
stage, the search would be open until July 12, 2015.
“Please feel free to contribute your
views. You should also have no hesitation in spreading the word about
the search and suggest strong candidates for consideration when the job
specifics are available,” he said.
Mr.
Sadowsky promised to revert to the Internet community with the outcome of the
updated job description and qualifications statement for the position by
mid-July.
