Why FG jammed Radio Biafra frequency

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information, DrYemiFolasade-Esanhas has given reason why it made effort at jamming the signals of the controversial Radio Biafra transmission which operates illegally from an unknown location, reports ITRealms.

Nigeria says it banned Radio Biafra, dedicated to creating a breakaway state because it is unlicensed.
However, the “pirate radio”, claimed to have been jammed by the ministry of Information, is reportedly back on the airwaves. The Federal Ministry of Information, ITRealms gathered, had said that signals coming from the controversial Radio Biafra have been successfully jammed by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The Presidency has also denied claims transmitted on the ‘pirate radio’ that President Buhari expressed anti-Igbo sentiments in a recent interview with the BBC Hausa Service, describing the report as completely false, malicious and slanderous.

An Aso Rock statement said the voice ascribed to Buhari is definitely not his. The said pirate radio station is believed to be Radio Biafra, which the Federal Government said it had jammed the signals and was hunting for those behind the illegal transmissions, ITRealms learnt

According to report people in southeastern Nigeria confirmed Thursday that the station is still broadcasting in the area that is home to the Igbo people of Nigeria. The Igbo embarked on a secessionist war to form an independent nation called Biafra in the 1960s that killed about 1 million people, mostly Igbo from conflict.
Unresolved causes of the war and results including the appropriation of property that has not been returned, ITRealms gathered, remain a recurrent source of conflict and groups including Radio Biafra continue to agitate for independence.
