NCS set for 12th International Conference





The President, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Prof. David Adewumi has disclosed that all is now set for the 12th International Conference of the society in Akure beginning from Wednesday, July 22 to Friday 24, 2015, reports ITRealms.

With the theme “Information Technology for Inclusive Development,” this year’s international conference, according to  Adewumi, is designed to attract dignitaries  in the IT sector focusing on important issues relating to the theme such as Smartcity and broadband penetration, innovation and leadership in IT, cashless society and payment system, critical information infrastructure protection (CIIP), cloud computing and big data, social networks, next generation networking and internet, IT Human Capital Development (Mentorship)¸e-Health/ e-Education/ e-Government and all the es, Entrepreneurship development in the IT.

Adewumi while addressing newsmen at a press conference, Friday, at Alausa, listed the achievements of the conference to include cashless economy, outsourcing, local content, Information Technology security solutions. He however decried government’s inability to appoint NCS experts into ICT-driven government ministries and parastatals like the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), adding that a situation in which government awards IT related contracts to expatriates does no good to the growth and development of the country. He stated that NCS experts possess better credentials than their foreigns counterparts.

Speaking on his achievements as NCS boss, he said they raised the membership from four to seven industry interest groups, added more vehicles to NCS fleet, insisting that the public is in a better position to judge his administration.

ITRealms gathered there will be an election of new officials into the National Executive Council (NEC) of the society at the Annual General Meeting to pilot its affairs for the next two years.
