The Chief Executive Officer, Payporte.com, the online
shopping portal giant, Eyo Bassey Francis, has disclosed the company’s
partnership with Operamini, the world famous browser service provider, to offer
free internet to Nigerians, ITRealms
reports.
Francis said this while briefing the media on the
Payporte latest business strategy launch which was designed to bring as many
Nigerians as possible to explore the internet and as a result motivate them to
patronize the company’s online shopping business, adding that with 83 million
Nigerians on Net the company is optimistic that the partnership will be
profitable.
The partnership with Operamini in conjunction with Airtel
Network, the renown telecom company, he stated, is based on Opera’s affirmed
ability to compress data to the tune of 90 per cent which he believes would act
as vehicle to pilot this business strategy, saying that Operamini would allow
100,000 web passes every month till the end of 2015. He went further to say
that there is possibility of renewal if the free launch was not abused, not
just by Nigerians, but by the telcos, Payporte or by Operamini. ITRealms gathered that apart from the
amount for the project being huge, it is being paid for by Payporte.
“It is on record that Payporte online transaction rate
remains at N165 per dollar despite the
rise in dollar rate; the free internet
which is only possible on the bill of Payporte, will not lead to a rise in
price of its online services, ” Francis disclosed.
The partnership which is meant to stimulate the online market,
ITRealms learnt, is also for brand
equity even as other networks like MTN,
Etisalat and Glo as telecom partners will join next week all to ensure that no
internet user was disenfranchised.
“MTN, Etisalat and Glo as telecom partners will join next
week all to ensure that no internet user was disenfranchised. All you need to
enjoy the free internet service is to have a good browser phone and you are on,
currently Payporte is in Ghana, Kenya and South Africa” he said.
The Business Development Manager, Operamini Sales,
Sub-Sahara Africa, Murray Spark, at the event which held, Tuesday, at WheatBaker
Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos, thanking Payporte for the partnership, said Operamini is
reputed to offer about 70 per cent of the world browser service and being able
to compress data to the tune of 90 per cent the success of the partnership is a
possibility. He said Operamini is providing the platform to achieve the dream
of the sponsors of the free internet service.
He stated that all you need to get through is by just
using operamini and typing Webpass.com and it gives you unlimited access to the
internet even though one is encouraged to visit Payporte site for online
shopping activitie, ITRealms reports.
“It is an internet experience in conjunction with the
telcos. We provide the platform, and with 22,000,000 million Operamini
customers in Nigeria that is the platform the sponsorship gets. We have strong
marketing team and our market dominance is real as a top browser data
compressor company. You can get through by using opearawepass.com,” Spark
added.
