Today, Friday, September 25, 2015, the Speaker of the
United States House of Representative, Mr. John
Boehner resigned his position after fulfilling a 20 year old dream, reports
ITRealms.
Mr. Boehner while announcing his exit from the one of
the high office in the United States, said he never expected to be in the
Congress of his country and sees himself as fortunate enough to have been
elevated to the position of speaker since 2011.
“I never thought I’d be in Congress, let alone be
speaker,” he was quoted as declaring by New
York Times.
According to him, his meeting with the visiting
Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis before Thursday address to the congress was a
life dream fulfilled.

that Mr. Boehner’s resignation came within 24 hours after a private chat with
Pope Francis during his visit to the Capitol, which culminated in the
fulfilling his longlife dream of getting Pope to address the joint US Congress.
Close sources to the now former Speaker said, “The
announcement came just a day after Pope Francis visited the Capitol, fulfilling
a 20-year dream for Mr. Boehner.”
The 65 year old Legislator represents the people of Ohio,
and was reported to had struggled most of his tenure as speaker due to several challenges
of divided government which makes it had for smooth running of the affairs of
the state, moreso from his conservative Republican members.
Also, New York Times reported that lately, Mr. Boehner was
under pressure over defund Planned Parenthood bill.
Political analysts, have said that with Mr. Boehner’s
announcement could count as lessening the chance of a government shutdown next
week in the United States. They posited that Republican leaders will now push
for a short-term funding measure to keep the government operating.

gathered, is the son of a tavern owner from a large Catholic family, who had a
private audience with Pope Francis before the Pontiff addressed Congress on
Thursday.
Mr. Boehner has been in the House since 1990.
