The official website of the National Food and Drug
Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is
down, as at Monday, 26 October 2015, reports ITRealms.
On accessing the NAFDAC site, a massive display of ‘Sorry’
with a note asking if visitors are the owners of the website, to quickly
contact the hosting provider and it went on to give some reasons.
Some of these reasons, ITRealms gathered include that the
Internet Protocol (IP) address has changed; server misconfiguration and or the
website moved to entirely different server.
ITRealms
also learnt on the fact that the IP
address has changed, which entails that the IP address for this domain may have
changed recently.
Owners were asked to check their
Domain Name System (DNS) settings to verify that the domain is set up
correctly.
“It may take 8-24 hours for DNS
changes to propagate. It may be possible to restore access to this site by following these instructions for clearing your
dns cache,” it was explained.
On the
event the server has misconfiguration, owners
were asked to verify that their hosting provider has the correct IP address
configured for their Apache settings and DNS records.
“A restart of Apache may be required
for new settings to take affect,”
The
third reason offered was that the site
may have moved to a different server.
This, experts say, include that the Uniform
Resource Locator (URL): a protocol for specifying addresses on the Internet for
this domain may have changed or the hosting provider may have moved the account
to a different server.
Efforts to contact officials of NAFDAC were not successful as
at press time.
