PIN #DigitalJobs project connects 14m youths in 12 months



The Project Manager, #DigitalJobs Project, Adebola Agbaje, has disclosed that in the last one year of its existence, the initiative has connected more that 14 million Nigerian youths, ITRealms reports.

She said that Digitaljobs, a youth focused initiative of Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN) was launched by this time last year with Oby Ezekwesili as the keynote speaker, adding that the project dwells basically on training the youth on specific jobs and skill acquisition. She also said DigitalJobs has gone beyond Lagos to include other states like Akwa Ibom, Osun, Ogun States to name a few.

Agbaje called for increased awareness about the project even though she stated that some of the students and participants have become apostles of DigitalJobs by helping to spread the good news. She said that some of the students have done between 8 to 14 jobs and they are making money, even as she predicted a better future for the project.

The Stakeholder Development Officer, Rockefeller Foundation, Africa,Ugochukwu Nwosu, said PIN is one of the guarantees whose job it is to create awareness of the Digitaljobs, saying that the foundation is supporting PIN’s expanding works across Nigeria.

He also said that apart from funding, the foundation also provides the institutional support where necessary in terms of engaging stakeholders, adding that the Rockefeller partners with organisations who are capable of delivering on what the foundation expects.

 “We hope they keep growing, it has been slow to catch up, We hope to have more local input into the online work space and a lot more people getting skills and be able to compete and getting jobs online,” Nwosu said.

Among those who have undergone trainings on the platform of #DigitaiJobs and are now making money online, ITRealms reports, include Adebayo Oluwasegun whose job dwelt on thesis, laboratory report and biography; Adebiyi Gbenga has worked on research, business plan writing and Internet marketing; another who gave his name as Elijah said he has worked on viral and Facebook marketing.

Gbenga who showered praises on PIN, said he joined Digitaljobs in January this year and is working on the up-work platform, stressing he has gone beyond making money online to become a trainer, guiding people on how to acquire skills  to be able to secure jobs online. He revealed that he has been on the upward movement in terms of making money online.

Highlights of the occasion was the cutting of the anniversary cake and the toast to the success of #DigitalJobs.
